What Is Line Dance?
10 GOOD REASONS TO LINE DANCE
1. It’s Just the Best Fun
Line dancing is the best fun. You will meet a lot of people who love fun and who love line dancing. It brings smiles to people’s faces along with a lot of laughter.
2. You’ll Make New Friends
Line dancing is a natural icebreaker. It’s a great way to meet people and to make new friends.
Line dancing provides opportunities for you to meet lots of lovely people. You can always be assured of a warm hearty welcome in my classes. Line dance Socials and Festivals are also full of friendly folk.
3. You’ll Enjoy the Exercise
Line dancing can be as gentle or as energetic as you want it to be. It is reported that it helps to increase muscle tone and co-ordination, it lowers the risk of coronary heart disease, improves cholesterol levels, strengthens bones, reduces blood pressure, and keeps dancers mentally fit. It is an amazing way to exercise, on a regular basis, to very pleasant music. Line dancing is a great way to stay in shape. If you don’t like the gym, line dancing can bring the fun back into your exercise.
4. It’s Easy to Learn to Line Dance
For most folks it takes about 3 weeks before feeling confident with their first dance. If it takes longer, don’t worry – how quickly it takes you to pick it up, initially, has little bearing on how good you will be a year on. We all learn at different paces. We all encourage each other to continue progressing.
People love to line dance because the dance moves are easy to learn and it doesn’t require you to co-ordinate moves with a partner. Dancers stand in a line and move in unison. My classes cater for all levels of dancer and for all tastes in music.
5. You Don’t Need a Partner
Line dancing is one of the most fun forms of dancing out there. It can be done anywhere, and doesn’t require a partner.
It can feel easier for some if they come along with a friend but please feel re-assured that this isn’t necessary as the minute that you walk through the doors of my classes you will find a room full of friends that you haven’t yet met!
6. It’s a Feel Good Factor
Line dancing builds confidence by giving a sense of success and achievement when you master different stages and levels of the dance as well as mastering the complete dance.
7. Line Dancing Improves Your Memory
It is common knowledge, amongst line dancers, that line dancing helps to train memory power. We need to memorise our basic step sequence and to keep repeating this sequence.
Line dancing trains the brain to stay active, by not only memorising the steps but by also co-ordinating the physical limbs to the music.
Research has shown that when you stop using part of your brain it will stop these parts working efficiently. Bring yourself along to one of my classes and you will see this for yourself. The class aids physical, mental and emotional well-being…
8. You’ll Feel a Sense of Achievement
General research has shown that line dancing improves people’s well-being, their co-ordination and their confidence. You will find that as you learn more new dances your confidence will grow. Members often talk of the positive feeling when they master new dance steps – Come along and let yourself have that awesome feeling.
Dancers have joined my class with very little confidence and have gone on, after a period of time, to become Instructors themselves.
9. It Relieves Stress
Line dancing helps to release the neurotransmitter endorphins which serve to reduce stress and cause our bodies to feel calm, happy and optimistic. We know that when the body feels good, the mind does, too! All the stress related problems, that are on your mind, seem to disappear when you are actively enjoying line dancing. This in turn lightens mood and reduces the risk of depression.
10. Passing It On!
In no time at all, I am sure that you will be passing on your love of line dancing to your friends and family. It’s a fact that dancers become really engaged with line dancing in a very short time. Often they join more than one class. As you can see Line dancing has so many positive benefits for dancers.
So, come and join my friendly classes on your own or bring your family and friends with you and give it a go.
We look forward to seeing and welcoming you
